Last night, we made history

It’s official:

The people of South Texas have elected me as their next member of Congress for TX-15.

And on the same ballot, we chose Gina Hinojosa to be our next Governor and James Talarico to be our next United States Senator.

This was a historic night, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

The other side tried to gerrymander us. To silence us. To deny us a seat at the table. And this community placed hope in me to be their voice.

It’s what I’ve done for 30 years.

My music has been the soundtrack of weddings, quinceañeras, and carne asadas. Since we announced this campaign last September, South Texans have let me into their homes, they’ve joined me at barbecues, and they’ve come out to our ranch halls.

I’ve been blessed to tour the country, perform in stadiums of all sizes, and win awards, but what’s ahead for me is bigger than any song.

South Texans are trusting me with their future.

I know the responsibility I’m taking on. It is an honor, and I’ll never forget it.

Whether you’re out here in the Valley or thousands of miles away, whether you voted for me, volunteered, or donated to our campaign, it was your support that put me in this position.

Thank you for placing your trust in me, and know that I’ll work every day to live up to it.

I want to thank my family, my wife Mariana and four sons, my father Roberto Pulido, and all the tios, tias, and primos who showed up for me during this wild adventure. I wouldn’t be here if not for your sacrifice. I love you.

I want to thank my team, every member of our staff. You crisscrossed this region by my side, worked many late nights, gave up your weekends to build this movement.

Se vale soñar, South Texas. And we proved it.

Now, everybody’s going to be looking to us to deliver. We’ll have our work cut out for us, but I know we’ll be ready.
